Eastern Bluebird
Kim and I spent some time at our family's farm this weekend, clearing away winter's detritus and exposing the new, awakening life beneath. Crocuses and Resurrection Lilies were bright green against the layer of brown oak leaves. We also saw the return of our resident pair of Eastern Bluebirds. We first saw them perched in a tree near the nest box they've used the past two years. The first sight of Bluebirds at the farm always brings great excitement and signals the unofficial beginning of spring.
Here's some video footage and a photo of a singing Song Sparrow also adding refreshing liveliness at the farm.
