Afton Forest Preserve

I took these images at Afton Forest Preserve yesterday evening. The Greater Yellowlegs and Killdeer were in the reconstructed wetland near the south end of the preserve. This area was a cornfield just last year!

These are amazing photos! I'm surprised how quickly the wetland restored itself and wildlife came back.

Thought you might be interested to hear that we had barn swallows nesting on the outside of our house near our front door. It is odd, because they usually nest inside a building and away from people-traffic, and they could have nested inside our little-used garage. Anyway, the second brood just fledged. Hopefully next year we'll have even more.
